Did You Know?
Beverages labeled 100% fruit juice contain 90% of the sugar and calories of sugar-sweetened carbonated soft drinks.
A 12 oz. can of cola has 39 grams of sugar, and an 11.5 oz. can of 100% apple juice has 36 grams.
White grape juice (an ingredient you will never see in First Juice® brand beverage) has even more sugar than apple juice.
Most parents mix water into their toddlers' juice because of their concern about its sugar content. First Juice Apple+Carrot is 43% juice, and Banana+Carrot is 49% juice.
In our own research, parents and pediatricians expressed three concerns about 100% fruit juice:
- Too much sugar
- Empty calories
- Habit-forming
No wonder there's an ongoing debate about the link between fruit juice and childhood obesity. If you're as surprised as we were at these discoveries, you've come to the right juice.
Healthy Body of Research
There's an increasing body of research that documents a compelling link between early exposure to foods and the acceptance or rejection of those foods later in life.
Evidence suggests that children's flavor preferences begin forming while still in the womb, continue through nursing, and are fully developed by age two. Evidence also suggests that these preferences carry into adulthood.
First Juice brand is the first-of-its-kind, organic fruit and vegetable juice beverage designed specifically for toddlers. First Juice, while often appealing to older children and adults, is designed with the right amount of flavor for young, developing taste buds, with the intention of steering them toward an appreciation for flavorful, less sweet tastes.
Not only does First Juice brand beverage have less sugar than the leading 100% apple juice, without adding anything artificial, it also blends the tastes of a variety of juices very deliberately to achieve its unique flavors.
